burger king veg burger – Lastly we will assemble the Veggie Burger, in the classic style Sesame buns, with mayonnaise, then some lettuce, & on top of it our home-made crispy veggie patty.

The Burger turns out to be really delicious, & believe me, this burger tastes much better than the ones bought from the market!

The Burger turns out to be really delicious, & believe me, this burger tastes much better than the ones bought from the market!

It’s a very simple recipe Firstly I’m adding

  1. 1/3rd cup Poha (rice-flakes) to a strainer Now we have to wash it with water.
  2. Pour some water over it & let it drain off &
  3. then you have to leave the poha to rest for 5 minutes to soak up
  4. You don’t need to dip poha in water to soak, just pour some  water on them.

burger king veg burger – Let it drain out & let them rest in strainer for 5 mins Now, as you can see our poha has rested, now, I’m nicely mashing it  with my hands to bring it to a mashed potato consistency We’ll keep it aside for now.

burger king veg burger – The addition of soaked & mashed poha in this recipe, acts as a binding agent Whenever you make something with a potato, potato has a lot of starch, so to dry out the potato mixture, a binding agent is added Different things can be used as binding agents, like cornflour or bread-crumbs Usually I use poha or rice flakes!

The advantage is that the texture doesn’t change & you don’t get a floury taste as you would with corn-flour plus, it acts as a binding agent as well & rice-flakes (poha) are bland by themselves & has no flavour so it doesn’t add up any new flavour in our patty!

So, it’s a perfect binding agent, you also use this trick to make your patty will come out nice & will not break apart while frying or will not be too wet or loose Secondly, if you don’t want to add any binding agent.

burger king veg burger  – I don’t sometimes Then, the variety of potato becomes really important, you have to use less starchy potatoes In this recipe, I’ve used normal potatoes If I don’t want to use binding, then I’ll choose’Pahadi’ potato, or ‘Indori’ potatoes, there are 2-3 such varieties of potatoes!

Veg burger patty

burger king veg burger –  When you go to the market, ask for potatoes used to make ‘French-fries’ or ‘Pahadi’ potatoes they have less starch & water-content & if you make patty from these potatoes, you will not need to use any binding agent, as it is the patty will be quite dry by itself!

So you can keep this thing in mind, whenever you are making any such recipe with potatoes like ‘Tikki’ (patty), French-fries, etc. burger king veg burger – So for our next step, we have to make a tempering for the patty, then we’ll add some vegetables to potatoes to make a delicious patty!

So let’s make the filling for the patty… Now, into a pan take

  1. 1 tsp oil 1 tbsp butter 1/2 chopped onion &
  2. 1 tbsp garlic
  3. I’m adding You have to sauté them on medium high flame Just let the onions get slightly translucent.

There’s no need to cook too much, After 2-3 minutes once your onions are translucent, then you have to add veggies at this stage So here,

  1. I’ve taken 1/3rd cup french-beans
  2. 1/3rd cup carrot 1/3rd cup peas,
  3. that I’ve boiled beforehand &
  4. 1-2 chopped green chillies,
  5. I’m adding Now, you have to stir these vegetables well, & cook them for 2-3 minutes on high flame!

It’s very important that your vegetables should stay crunchy & not turn limp Cook it on high flame for 2-3 minutes Now, I’ve turned the heat down, let’s add some spices here

  1. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  2. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  3. 2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur-powder)
  4. 1 tsp cumin powder & a pinch of garam masala.

burger king veg burger – Now, really quickly stir these spices, you shouldn’t cook them a lot, otherwise they might burn After stirring, you have to add boiled potatoes to it Here, I have already boiled 5-6 medium sized potatoes, I’m grating them to add in it!

I’m not mashing it coz, sometimes mashing can leave lumps, which isn’t desirable So, for perfect consistency, whenever you are making something like this, grate the potatoes & note that you have to use the large bore of the grater!

burger king veg burger-  Not the fine one while grating the potatoes I’ve added the grated potatoes, along with that, at this stage I’m also adding salt to taste Now, I’m stirring everything, & while stirring mashing a bit too Once your entire mixture is well combined & comes together nicely!

so I use a potato-masher, that we use for making ‘Pav-Bhaji’ & with that I mash everything lightly. Don’t mash it completely, just with light hands Your filling will be well-combined & come together nicely Now, as you can see, my filling is mixed, has come together & I’ve even cooked it well for 3-4 minutes on high flame!

burger king veg burger – Now, at this stage, I’m adding our binding in form of soaked poha (rice-flakes) & along with it I’m adding freshly chopped coriander leaves Now, combine everything together again Sometimes, I find it difficult to combine everything!

burger king veg burger  – At this stage, transfer this filling into a bowl After transferring to a bowl, you have to let it cool down for 10-15 mins or until it completely comes down to room temperature. After it cools down, cover it. I’m using a cling film here to cover it, you can even use a plate- But covering it is very important and keep it into the fridge for 15 minute
